Today, one in five Hungarians is in arrears with rent or overhead. While the state subsidise the property purchase of the richest with millions of forints, the average person gets, in the best case, a few thousand forints. But there is a solution to the housing crisis. And it is presented in the paper of the Institute for Transformation.

We are organising a debate entitled “Housing for everyone!” with the participation of Rebeka Szabó, Deputy Mayor of Zugló (Dialogue for Hungary), Sándor Nagy, Deputy Mayor of Szeged (Együtt), Zoltán Lakner, political scientist, Bálint Misetics, social policy developer, Eszter Somogyi, sociologist (Metropolitan Research Institute) and Gábor Borsos, chair of the Institute for Transformation. Moderator: Krisztina Bombera. At the event, we will present our discussion paper entitled “The right to housing”.
